Why Priests are Losing Faith

Religion is our spiritual connection to a life beyond the biology of this world and yet, if it's going to be with us, it must exist within this biological world as well. And a faith that can not or will not relate to the evolving mind, body and soul is one that becomes more and more disconnected.

One of my pagan acquaintences on Facebook commented [after posting this article] that she feels the Catholic Church will fall within her lifetime.  Followers are struggling more and more to relate to the rigid foundations of Vatican leaders.  Was the Bible meant instead to be ever-interpretative?  Should it be fluid with the times so that its readers connect with it and with the church that weaves faith into their evolving lives?  So far, it seems, the heads of this particular faith-state are unwilling to even consider, much less answer, such questions.

I was once a Roman Catholic... I studied the bible... I know the rules.  And I'm fairly certain [I recall] that the judging of others is a sin.  And yet we continue to see the Vatican and its convoy lashing out at the gay community and at those civil authorities who are supporting their efforts for equality in marriage.  

One would think that importance would be placed on correcting the numerous cases of sex abuse by their own priests around the globe.  Doesn't their holy book stress the vitality of controlling your own thoughts and actions rather than turning your judgment outward?  Worry about the horrors that are happening under your own robes Father!  

Do they even fathom the credence that is lost when they outwardly condemn a selection of the population while simultaneously skirting the repulsive behaviors within their own ranks.  Perhaps this is the reason for such an outward and one-sided attack on the gay community -- an attempt to steer focus away from the disturbing sins committed by their own.

An interestingly new and open-minded translation of biblical scriptures. I only wish more followers came to realize that it all comes down to varying interpretation.  And because none of us know beyond just our faith what holds true in the end, each individual should be left to live [and love] as they please.

The attached link provides an embellished article delving into the man behind the current holiday and yet again we find another piece written without truth-- one labeling pagans and druids as dark and barbaric. Very much of the inaccurate same.

Dodd's story of a journey through various different religions in quest of spiritual fulfillment speaks wonders to the diversity of the human soul. What wholly comforts one may feel lacking and limited to another. It's vital for someone to feel a sense of freedom when seeking to find their faith. We should all remember & respect this before seeking to convert someone who does not wish for conversion [ahem, Catholics].
